2009 count finds 23,000 birds (Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal)
Fifty-three birders participated in the 109th annual National Audubon Christmas Bird Count in Mathews and Gloucester counties on Sunday, finding 23,049 birds of 116 species, according to coordinator Joyce McKelvey.
